MediaLab scholar begins research stay at Tampere University, Finland

Ojonimi Alfred, a PhD researcher in the Media Research at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) and a member of MediaLab, has begun a three-month research stay at Tampere University in Finland. The stay forms part of his doctoral research, which is connected to MediaLab’s HEALTHCOMM project (Pseudoscience, conspiracy theories, fake news and media literacy in health communication).

During his time at Tampere University, Alfred will work with fellow Dr. Anna Sendra Toset and colleagues in the TARU (Tampere University Research Centre for Communication Sciences) Research Group, developing academic networks and exchanging research perspectives on health communication, misinformation and media literacy. As part of the research stay, he will also present aspects of his doctoral research and findings related to the HEALTHCOMM project, creating opportunities for discussion and collaboration with researchers working in related fields.

The research stay strengthens the international dimension of the HEALTHCOMM project and supports collaboration between research communities in Spain and Finland. Following the three-month stay, Alfred will return to UC3M to continue his doctoral studies and complete his research. The experience will contribute to the development of his PhD research while fostering longer-term academic connections between MediaLab and Tampere University.
