UC3M MediaLab: Exploring the Intersection of Technology and Public Communication
The “Analytics, Media and Public Engagement: Communication, Journalism and Technology Laboratory” Research Group (UC3M MediaLab) responds to the growing need to study the media and public discourse under the influence of technological advances in the information society. Topics such as artificial intelligence, the influence of social networks on public perception, citizen participation, disinformation, crisis communication, big data , STEM vocations and data journalism will be areas of analysis that will be applied to various areas of society such as politics, economics, law, science, health, environment, ethics, international relations, etc.
UC3M MediaLab members study and analyse the behaviour of traditional and digital media, journalistic coverage of relevant and sensitive issues for society, as well as the influence of communication technologies on public perception and citizen participation in public debate.
The group is made up of university professors, researchers, as well as doctoral students with multidisciplinary profiles from the fields of communication, journalism, science and technology, as well as social and legal sciences. Members are participating in various European, national, and regional research projects such as the Jean Monnet Chair “EU, disinformation and fake news"
