Pilar Lacasa

Pilar Lacasa, Emeritus Professor of Audiovisual Communication (University of Alcalá) and Eminent Senior (The International University of La Rioja). She co-coordinate the Images, Words, and Ideas Research Group since 2000 https://proyectos.uah-gipi.org/. Recently as a researcher of UNIR she is a member of PROCOMM https://gruposinvestigacion.unir.net/procomm/ and Vidas Digitales https://vidasdigitalesunir.org/ She published "Adolescent Fans. Practices, discourses, and communities (2020, Peter Lang, translated to Spanish 2023". She was a visiting researcher at MIT (Cambridge, USA), The University of Southern California (USA), RMIT (Melbourne), and Freie Universität (Berlin). Her research interests focus on the analysis of fan communities, particularly their presence on social networks. She is interested in the reconstruction of texts in these environments and how practices, concepts, and values are shared in these environments. She likes to innovate in methodological approaches, combining small and big data in her analyses, as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence as a methodological tool for scraping and analyzing data
