Michael Ray Smith
Second European Conference on Disinformation and Fact-Checking | Conference speaker
Michael Ray Smith has lit a fire under journalists across two continents. A distinguished visiting professor at Kings College Manhattan, NY, and LCC International in Europe, he's written 10 books on everything from newspaper history to handwritten publications—all while teaching writers how to turn their passion into paychecks. In addition to his classroom teaching over more than two decades, Michael continues to write freelance articles for publications such as Religion Unplugged. He has been a professor of mass communication, journalism and public relations, roles with built-in tensions, which makes life shimmer with challenges. His work on a clergyman who tried to reform the mainstream press will be explored in this conference. If the mainstream press had followed Charles M. Sheldon's basic guidelines, he said our conference would be unnecessary. All the current research including his July 2025 peer-reviewed journal article suggests that news credibility may be at an all-time low. https://tinyurl.com/mwzmhd6a
When he's not conducting workshops for new writers whether in the USA, Kenya, the Philippines and Europe, he and his wife Dalia divide their time between Washington, D.C., and the Baltic coast of Klaipeda, Lithuania.
