Margarida Raposo Alves is a journalist and PhD student in Communication Sciences at Fernando Pessoa University (UFP). Her academic and scientific trajectory has been marked by recognized success, combining research quality with active participation in the academic community. Her doctoral research focuses on cancel culture, disinformation and digital resilience, through an interdisciplinary lens connecting media studies, cultural communication, and democratic discourse.
Since 2020, she has worked as a journalist in both Portugal and Spain. This dual role has enriched her academic work with practical insights, especially regarding digital media and contemporary communication challenges.
She has published extensively in scientific journals and academic eBooks and has presented her research at several national conferences. She is an associate member of SOPCOM and actively participates in research networks dedicated to media, communication, and cultural studies.
Her work critically examines the role of the media in shaping public opinion, addressing issues such as fake news and the need to foster digital resilience in polarized and mediatized societies. Through her contributions, she aims to bridge journalism and academia, strengthening civic engagement and public understanding in the digital age.
