Second European Conference on Disinformation and Fact-Checking | Conference speaker

I'm a researcher at the University of Sheffield with a focus on science communication and education. My current work explores how the landscape of science reporting is evolving amidst widespread misinformation and retractions. Through mixed methods analysis of news stories and interviews with science journalists, I investigate how retracted information is framed for the public (if at all), the challenges of scientific quality control, and the ways reporters navigate complex debates and combat misinformation, given the time pressure and resource constraints. A central theme across all my projects is the critical need for scientific literacy training.

Previously, my research has delved into the cognitive processes involved in work activities and the sociology of work, specifically looking at how academics' identity trajectories are shaped by agency and affordances.

In addition to my research, I'm also a part-time lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, where I teach evidence-based research at Nursing programmes.
