Jesús Arroyave is a Full Professor in the Social Communication-Journalism Program at Universidad del Norte. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Miami, USA, a master’s in communication and information studies from Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, and a Master’s in Education from Universidad Javeriana, Colombia. He completed a post-doctoral research stay at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, with the George Forster Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He was awarded the Tinker Foundation Visiting Professorship and taught a doctoral seminar on Mass Media and Journalism in Latin America at the School of Mass Media and Journalism at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. He is also a Fulbright scholar. His research interests include media and journalism studies, communication theory and knowledge production in Latin America, and communication for health and social change. His work has been published in several scientific journals, including Chasqui, Palabra Clave, Signo y Pensamiento, cuadernos.info, Journalism Studies, International Journal of Communication, Comunicar, and Feminist Media Studies, as well as in book chapters published by Routledge, Taylor and Francis, and Columbia University Press. He has consulted for organizations such as PAHO/WHO, WFP, USAID, and UNICEF. Additionally, he has served as a professor or visiting scientist in Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States.
