Inês Sousa Guedes is an Assistant Professor, Researcher, and Director of the School of Criminology at the Faculty of Law, University of Porto (FDUP). She holds a PhD in Criminology and is an integrated researcher at the CIJ – Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Justice. Her work focuses on fear of crime, urban safety, disinformation, fake news susceptibility and dissemination, and cybercrime victimization. She is the PI of the FACTCHECK Project, funded by the “la Caixa” Foundation, and she was the PI of two previous projects related to disinformation in the Portuguese context. Furthermore, she has authored several publications on fear of crime, insecurity, cybercrime victimization, and disinformation and fake news. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences, particularly within the field of criminology. She teaches and supervises at undergraduate and graduate levels, serves on academic and ethics committees, is a board member of AICLP – Associação Internacional de Criminologia de Língua Portuguesa, and regularly collaborates in interdisciplinary and policy-oriented research.
