Fabiana Rodríguez-Pastene

Fabiana Rodríguez-Pastene Vicencio (Valparaíso, 1978) is a journalist with a Master’s in History, specializing in Politics and International Relations, and a PhD in History with a focus on Social Studies from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. She also holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing from Adolfo Ibáñez University. She is a professor in the Department of Gender, Politics, and Culture at Playa Ancha University.
Rodríguez-Pastene Vicencio has experience as a reporter for TVN's Press Department and has hosted cultural and political programs on UCV-TV. She served as Head of Marketing and Links at PUCV. Over the past two decades, she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at various Chilean universities, including Universidad de Valparaíso, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Universidad Viña del Mar, and Universidad de Playa Ancha. Her academic research focuses on the social representation of minorities, covering topics such as women, migrants, ethnic groups, and childhood. She has published several articles in indexed journals and has participated as a speaker at national and international conferences.
She is the co-author of the following books: Chile Despertó: La rebelión de la Dignidad (Catalonia, 2020), which won the Memory and Human Rights Award in 2021; 50 Years, 50 Stories: Children and Adolescents of the Dictatorship (LOM, 2023), recognized as one of the three best investigative journalism books of 2021-2023 by the José Carrasco Prize in 2024; and Tremendas: De Puerto a Cordillera (Ediciones Universitarias, 2023), a text financed by the National Book Fund of the Ministry of Culture and Arts, Chile, with a preface by national journalism award winner Mónica González. She is also the co-host and general editor of Región F, a gender-focused project broadcast on SoyChile.cl. She is currently working on her fourth book.
