EU Disinformation and Fake News | Researcher

David García Marín is an Associate Professor and Researcher at the Department of Journalism and Corporate Communication at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC). He is a guest professor in several masters in digital communication, new pedagogies and transmedia journalism at UNED, where he has also directed several courses on digital media and disinformation. Previously, he was a professor at Carlos III University, where he taught the subject Media Theory in English in the bilingual degrees of Journalism and Cultural Studies. His research areas focus on podcasting and digital audio, disinformation, fact-checking and transmedia journalism. In 2021, URJC awarded him the Innovative Teachers Award for his project entitled From podcast to interactive video. Transmedia methodology for the subject New Technologies and Information Society. In 2023, he received the EPI-Scimago Award for the Best Scientific Article in Communication of the last 5 years (2018-2022). Researcher of the Jean Monnet Chair EUDFAKE: EU, Disinformation and Fake News funded by the Erasmus+ Program (European Commission), directed by Carlos Elías (Full Professor of Journalism at Carlos III University). He is part of the National Task Force against Disinformation Campaigns funded by the Department of Homeland Security of Spain. He is a member of the Media Literacy Mario Kaplún Chair called Hoy es mañana, belonging to the International Centre for Higher Communication Studies for Latin America (CIESPAL). He currently holds the position of Coordinator of Institutional Development in the Faculty of Communication Sciences at URJC. He is also a member of the URJC Research Ethics Committee.
