Second European Conference on Disinformation and Fact-Checking | Conference speaker
Bruno Soares Silva holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the Faculty of Law of University of Porto and is currently pursuing the second year of the Master’s program in Criminology in the same institution. He is currently working as a research fellow at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Justice (CIJ), where he collaborates on the FACTCHECK project, aimed at generating knowledge on the individual factors influencing the susceptibility to and dissemination of fake news.
His research interests focus on the sociological perspectives within criminology, particularly issues of identity and their impact on behavioral change, with and emphasis on desistance from crime and substance use. Recently, these have also broadened to encompass research on misinformation at the individual level, as well as the far-reaching implications these phenomena have for society at large.
He is in the process of preparing his first academic publication, a systematic review related to his ongoing research on individual susceptibility to misinformation, and developing his Master’s dissertation on the role of identity in substance use desistance.
