MediaLab’s Projects Earn Spotlight for Driving Social Change

Four groundbreaking research projects led by MediaLab have been recognised by UC3M among the most impactful initiatives currently underway in the Faculty of Humanities. This acknowledgment highlights the relevance and societal value of MediaLab’s work in current global issues in areas such as health communication, misinformation, disinformation, pseudoscience, and conspiracy theories. The highlighted projects include a national project on Health Communication, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, which seeks to extends the frontiers of knowledge in health disinformation, pseudoscience, and conspiracy theories in Spain. Two others- Future Of European Communication and EU Misinformation, Disinformation, And Fake News- supported by the European Union focus on disinformation trends across Europe, providing insights to guide media policy and education. The Misinformation, Disinformation, and Fake News Project, with funding from the UN Human Rights Council, investigates misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech amongst immigrants and refugees in Latin America. Together, these projects reflect MediaLab research group’s commitment to addressing contemporary global issues through rigorous research and collaboration.
